Priscilla Fleming Vayda, an artist from the bayous of Lafitte, Louisiana, has been a New Orleans journalist, contributor to Southern cook books, and art writer for Los Angeles area newspapers, where she lived in the 1990s.

Her Louisiana and Gulf Coast paintings, shown primarily in New Orleans galleries, have focused largely on the bayou region she grew up in, knows well and where her family has lived in for more than 100 years.

Her "cemetery" series focus on one of Louisiana's famous historic cemeteries, situated beside Bayou Barataria on a prehistoric Indian mound surrounded by historic live oak trees on Fleming Plantation .
